History
The Oconee County Community Fire Company, Inc. began service in 1962 as a Subscription Fire Service staffed by 38 volunteers with one Fire Station located in the City of Watkinsville. The Fire Service began with 230 subscribers at $12.00 per dwelling.
Since 1962, the department has grown to seven fire stations and 175 members throughout the county. OCFR has one full-time Fire Chief, one full-time Deputy Chief, and two administrative assistants.
Since 1997 all Firefighters are certified to the National NPQ Firefighter I level.
